Does your trucking company treat you like their most valuable resource?

Does your trucking company treat you like their most valuable resource?

Has anyone else come across a trailer with this message?  We recently snapped this picture just outside of Joplin, Missouri.  The trailer has an important message – truck drivers really are the most valuable resource of any trucking company.  Without truck drivers, goods wouldn’t move, our economy would grind to a halt, and trucking companies would go out of business.

Unfortunately, many trucking companies don’t treat truck drivers like they are a valuable resource. In our law practice, we see trucking companies that refuse to pay hurt truck drivers workers’ compensation benefits and then try to pressure the truckers not to file workers’ comp claims. We see trucking companies that refuse to provide workers’ comp medical care to injured truck drivers and then fire the driver so that they lose health insurance benefits and have no way to pay for health care.

Truck drivers deserve better. Truckers deserve to be treated like they are trucking companies’ most valuable resource. Here’s hoping more trucking companies treat truckers like a valuable resource!
